Lille… the Heart of the North…

I spent a day in Lille and found it quite generous with its urbanism.
During the shots, I focused on having a strong foreground that led into the vibrant city. I was searching for subtle visual anchors in my composition that easily blended with the city’s atmosphere. The still buildings served as a focal point to follow when people added a sense of movement. The bollards in some photographs created leading lines toward the buildings.
The overcast sky provided diffused light, softening shadows and creating a balanced exposure. The blend of people at cafés or in motion and classic architecture evoked a lively yet relaxed, typical European city atmosphere.
I truly wanted to mix architecture, street elements, and human activity to create urban compositions and show how constructions come to life thanks to the beating hearts of those who occupy them.
